FAQ
-
What medium are your maps?My maps are created digitally but are drawn entirely by hand. I do not use map generators, AI or internet based mapping programs. Each map is unique, hand illustrated and created specifically for you and your needs.
-
What do you need to get started? To get started, I need: The purpose of the map (e.g., book, game, personal use). A sketch of the map and/or a text description. Desired size and style (black-and-white, color, monochrome, etc.). Any additional details - such as climate, landmarks, cultural elements or general vibe of your book - will help make your map even more personalized!
-
I only have a text description for my map. Can you work from it?Absolutely! I can create a map based on your text description. However, for precise positioning of elements, a simple sketch or additional references would be helpful.
-
Do you only make fantasy maps? Not at all! While fantasy maps are my specialty, I also create maps for young adult books, sci-fi, and other genres. If your project has an unusual setting, I’m always excited to explore new creative challenges!
-
What size/resolution your maps? All maps are created at 300 dpi resolution for high-quality printing. If you don’t specify a size, I typically work with: 12x9 inches for spreads (double-page layouts). 6x9 inches for single pages in print books. If you need a custom size, just let me know!
-
What formats will my map be delivered in?Your map will be delivered in high-quality .PNG format. If you need another format, let me know when placing your order!
-
Can you make the maps ANY larger?Yes, I can accommodate larger sizes! Currently, my equipment allows for maps up to 10,000 pixels on the longer side.
-
Can I use your map for publication in my book? You have the right to use the image in books, prints, stickers, or any other kind of merchandise, including for commercial purposes. Additional questions regarding rights, usage and non-disclosure agreements are discussed individually.
-
Do you offer revisions during the process?Yes! During the creation process, I provide unlimited revisions at the sketch stage + a total of 4 free revisions at later stages of the work. Additional edits and post-edits will be chargeable depending on the complexity of the edit.
-
How long does it take to complete a map?The timeline depends on the map’s complexity and my current schedule. Typically: Small, simple maps: 4-7 days. Complex, detailed maps: 7-12 days. I usually have a queue of orders as well, so these deadlines can also include waiting for your turn. Plan to work with me in advance if possible!
-
Can you make maps labels in any language?Yes! I can label your map in any language. Just provide the titles and text you’d like included, and I’ll take care of the rest.
-
Can I get the source file?Yes, I provide source files for an additional fee. These .PSD files include fully separated layers (lines, colors, text, and decorative elements), allowing you to make edits or adjustments as needed.
-
Can I request a rush order?Rush orders are possible for an additional fee, depending on my schedule and the complexity of your project. Please contact me to discuss availability.
-
What if I need changes made to a map after it's finished? If you’ve purchased the source file, I can make updates or edits at no charge or for a small fee, depending on the complexity. If you don’t have the source file, you can request edits within one week of delivery. After that, I delete the source files.
